QUOTES

"I write, draw, and film stories."

"No one remembers a particular writing style or a unique plot point in the story. What our audiences will remember is how we made them feel. They'll remember if they relate to a specific character or an emotion. The idea is to write what your reader already feels and make them aware of that emotion in a new way for the first time. The rest is gimmicks."

What advice do you have for people starting to do something new, like write, draw, or film?
There's always a first time for everything. With abundant resources and learning at your disposal online, there is no excuse anymore for you to say– I can't. Every new venture requires constant effort, like learning to cycle or drive a vehicle.

Arguably, no one sits and writes a story in one go, makes an entire film in one day, or creates a painting in one day unless that is someone like your little sister in preschool. We break it down into manageable pieces: sessions, scenes, dialogues, locations, and so on.

There will be times when you will doubt yourself, and everybody does. However, keep at it, and you will put all your pieces together. With practice comes a certain kind of ease. But perfection is always a distant dream. While we can dream of perfection, we must choose contentment and happiness after a point. Then, we must let go or fear getting stuck in a vicious cycle of practicing perfecting one creation when we could have created so many.
You will write something exciting, draw and paint something pleasing to your eye, and make a film that will be appreciated.

Also, copying is the most admirable form of compliment. Learn from the best. Copy while you learn. Study the 'why' behind the 'what' that you copy. Soon, you too will be complimented by someone somewhere copying you on whatever you choose today to do for the first time. Begin now.
